Samuel Kalu Expresses Disappointment Over Gent’s Draw Despite Goal Assist

KAA Gent’s Nigerian forward, Samuel Kalu, voiced his disappointment following his team’s 1-1 draw against Royal Antwerp in their initial Belgian first-division league encounter of 2018 on Wednesday, according to reports from Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN). Kalu, making a comeback to the Buffaloes’ starting lineup after receiving a red card in Gent’s 1-0 defeat to RSC Anderlecht in December 2017, expressed his belief that the team was unfortunate not to secure a victory after taking the lead with a goal in the 34th minute.

The 20-year-old player played a pivotal role by providing an assist for Roman Yaremchuk to score from close range. However, Stallone Limbombe’s goal for Royal Antwerp leveled the score, denying Gent the full three points. Reflecting on the match, Kalu shared his perspective, stating, “Roman was in the right place, I knew where to place it. It is a shame we did not take the three points home because it was what we deserved.”

Expressing eagerness for the upcoming challenges, Kalu conveyed his satisfaction at being back on the field, saying, “I was glad that I could play again after my red card against Anderlecht. And now, I look forward to the next match on Sunday.”

In the current season, Kalu has made notable contributions, featuring in 18 league games for Gent, with four goals and three assists to his credit. Gent currently holds the fourth position in the league table, amassing 36 points from 23 games.
