The Nigeria Beach Soccer national team will discover their opponents for the 2024 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (BSAFCON) Qualifiers on Thursday.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Monday that the draw for the 2024 BSAFCON Qualifiers will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
Before the draw, CAF is expected to reveal the teams competing for seven slots to join host nation Egypt in the tournament. Nigeria’s Sand Eagles are anticipated to be among these teams as they aim to make a strong comeback to the international scene after being disbanded in 2019.
Egypt will host this year’s BSAFCON for the second time, with the qualifiers scheduled to take place in June and July. This will be the sixth edition of the tournament, with Senegal having won the most recent edition in 2022 after a penalty shootout victory over Egypt. Senegal also holds the record for the most titles, with six trophies.
Nigeria has won the BSAFCON twice and hopes to make an immediate impact upon their return, bolstered by the growth of the Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL), which is in its fourth consecutive season.
