Shooting Stars General Manager Dimeji Lawal looks back at first stanza with big hopes

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The General Manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club, Dimeji Lawal, says the Ibadan-based side needs to get better players to be able to smile at the end of the season.

The Oluyole Warriors are the form team in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), with five straight wins in their last five games in December 2024 before the mid-season break.

They defeated Abia Warriors, Kano Pillars, and Kwara United at home while also securing away wins over Sunshine Stars and Rangers International FC.

The form put Gbenga Ogunbote’s side in third position with 33 points, three behind league leaders, Remo Stars.

“We have corrected our mistakes and loopholes because we still need about three players here and there,” Lawal said.

“We are going to look around and see capable hands that can fill some loopholes. It is still a very long journey. We have to remain focused.

“Definitely, if we can get players who will fit into the coach’s philosophy. Players who are better than those ones we have. We are not just going to pick players. We have to look for those that are better than what we are having.”

He thanked the club fans and promised that at the end of the season, the team will have the course of smiling.

“I want to thank Oluyole Warriors fans. This season, they have been very wonderful and stayed with us through Tick and Tin. I want to assure them that we will remain focused. At the end of the season, we will have something to celebrate.” He concluded.
