Sikiru Alimi ecstatic to score first Nigeria Premier Football League goal for 3SC

Shooting Stars’ forward, Sikiru Alimi heaped a sigh of relief on Sunday when he got first Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL goal for the Oluyole Warriors against Insurance FC in Benin.

Alimi had joined Shooting Stars this campaign for his second sojourn and finally broke his drought with the equalizer in the 1-1 draw against the Group A leaders Bendel Insurance.

Having started Shooting’s last eight games, the former Lobi and Sunshine Stars’ striker had to wait till Matchday 17 to register his maiden goal of the abridged season and heave a sigh of relief over his droughting ending achievement.

“I feel elated, very excited and very happy for scoring my first goal of the season,” Alimi told ACLSports.

“I have waited so long for this moment and thank God it finally came. I want to say congratulations to myself, my teammates, and our coaches. We really worked hard for this.

“The team’s image was at stake, so we needed it to keep pushing on because we really want to finish on a high, so we are grateful to God for this result.”

Shooting Stars now have 22 points from 17 games played and will be rounding up the regular season with the last game against Enyimba FC in Ibadan.
