Former Nigeria international Sone Aluko has expressed his excitement at joining Ipswich Town’s coaching crew following his retirement from professional football earlier this year.
The 35-year-old concluded his playing career with Ipswich Town in 2024 before transitioning to a first-team coaching role at the English club.
Aluko described it as a privilege to embark on his coaching career at Ipswich Town, emphasizing the wealth of experience and knowledge he brings to the role.
He expressed eagerness to learn from the club’s manager and coaching staff, viewing it as a fantastic opportunity for personal growth. Looking ahead, Aluko is enthusiastic about contributing to Ipswich Town’s journey in the Premier League.
“It is a real privilege to start the next phase of my career by joining the first-team coaching staff here at the club,” Aluko stated.
“Learning from the manager and all the coaching staff here is a fantastic opportunity for me. It is a great time to be at Ipswich, and I’m really looking forward to helping the squad continue to learn and take on the challenge of the Premier League.”
Aluko made his debut for the Super Eagles in 2009, scoring twice in seven appearances. Ipswich Town recently secured promotion to the Premier League after a 22-year absence, adding further excitement to Aluko’s new role with the club.
