Sone Aluko Maintains Confidence Amidst Reading’s Struggles

Reading’s Nigerian forward, Sone Aluko, remains resolute that the team will overcome their recent struggles in the English Championship, expressing confidence that they can turn their season around despite a challenging run of results.
Currently, Reading finds themselves in a precarious position, having secured only one victory in their last 12 Championship matches. The team’s downturn has placed them just four points above the relegation zone, occupying the 18th spot in the league table with 32 points.
The recent 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough marked their fourth loss in five games, prompting some fans to voice their dissatisfaction with manager Jaap Stam. However, Aluko, who joined Reading from Fulham last summer, remains steadfast in his belief that the team will rebound.
In an interview with the Reading Chronicle, Aluko remarked, “It’s not going our way at the minute, but I’m a big believer in making your own luck, and we have to keep believing.”
Acknowledging the challenges the team is facing, Aluko emphasized the need for unity and hard work. He stated, “We’ll be working hard. We have to stick together, keep fighting and address the problems we’re encountering in games at the moment.”
Aluko acknowledged the importance of mental resilience, saying, “It’s about what’s going on between your ears as much as what is happening with the ball at your feet. As players, you’ve got to keep believing. And if we do, I’m confident we will turn it around.”
With Sheffield United’s FA Cup involvement leading to Reading having no fixture this weekend, it provides an opportunity for the team to regroup and focus on finding solutions to their challenges.
