Sone Aluko Rescues Reading from Nine-Game Drought, Secures Victory Against QPR

In a dramatic turn of events, Nigeria forward Sone Aluko emerged as the savior for 10-man Reading, bringing an end to their nine-game winless streak with a hard-fought 1-0 triumph against visiting Queens Park Rangers in the English Championship on Friday.

Aluko’s moment of glory came in the 13th minute, concluding a four-month goal drought since his last strike for Reading in their 4-2 away victory against Derby County on November 4. The Nigerian showcased his brilliance by evading a tackle on the right, surging inside, and unleashing a powerful shot into the top corner.

This crucial goal marked Reading’s first victory since their 3-1 triumph over Burton Albion on January 30, injecting a much-needed boost to their campaign.

Despite Aluko’s heroics, Reading faced adversity as they were reduced to 10 men following Yann Kermogant’s expulsion in the 81st minute after receiving his second yellow card.

The victory under the helm of newly appointed manager Paul Clement, succeeding the dismissal of Jaap Stam, places Reading in the 19th position on the league table with 39 points, maintaining a six-point buffer from the relegation zone in the fiercely contested 24-team league.

Sone Aluko’s stellar performance not only secured Reading’s victory but also underscored his significant impact on the team, as he has now tallied three goals in 32 league appearances this season. The Reading faithful can now revel in the much-needed respite brought about by Aluko’s triumphant return to the scoring sheet.
