Stakeholders, Journalists commend NSC for re-shuffling Secretary General in National Sports Federations

Stakeholders and journalists in the Nigerian sports sector have expressed strong commendations for the National Sports Commission (NSC) following its recent decision to re-shuffle the Secretary-General positions in various National Sports Federations.
The move, widely hailed as a bold and necessary step, has been lauded for its potential to bring fresh perspectives, enhance administrative efficiency, and streamline operations within the federations.
The re-shuffling, which involves the repositioning of key officials in several sports federations, is seen as an important measure in revitalising the management structures of Nigerian sports.
The decision was made in response to growing concerns about the need for better governance, increased accountability, and more effective management of resources in Nigerian sports.
Sports administrators have emphasised that the re-shuffling is crucial to ensuring that the federations operate with transparency, good governance, and focus on long-term development.
With many federations struggling to manage resources efficiently and implement sustainable development plans, the change in leadership comes as a welcomed initiative.
A prominent sports journalist, Joan Iwuchukwu praised the NSC for addressing the issue of stagnation in several federations.
“This change will not only bring fresh energy into the system but also foster the kind of leadership that is required to ensure a turnaround in our sports sector,” the Iwuchukwu said.
“It is about time that the right people are placed in positions where they can make meaningful contributions.”
Sports administrator, Sadiq Babangida highlighted that the re-shuffling could lead to a renewed focus on grassroots development, which has often been sidelined in favor of elite sports.
Babangida said, “This is a very positive step forward by bringing in people with a fresh approach, we can hope to see a more dynamic and effective strategy to address the challenges of Nigerian sports, particularly in nurturing young talents and improving training facilities.”
A sports enthusiast Reuben Madaki said, “This new direction gives us hope that sports in Nigeria can thrive and reach international standards. We need people with the right vision, and the NSC’s decision shows they are committed to making that happen.”
