Former Nigeria national team coach, Adegboye Onigbinde, has emphasized that the Super Eagles’ qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hinges on the team’s preparation.

Drawn in Group D, Nigeria will face Rwanda, Benin Republic, and Libya in the qualifiers.

Onigbinde believes that all teams in the group have an equal chance of qualifying for the tournament, highlighting the importance of the Super Eagles being at their best.

“All the teams in the group have equal chances of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations because it’s a game of eleven players,” Onigbinde told Complete Sports.

He stressed that the success of the team depends significantly on the Nigerian Football Federation and the technical crew’s efforts in preparing the team.

“Everything depends on how the Super Eagles prepare for their qualifying campaign. Mind you, it’s not automatic, and it’s not by magic. How we prepare depends on our administration and technical crew, which will be key to the success of the team,” he added.

Nigeria was narrowly defeated 2-1 by the host nation, Ivory Coast, in the 2023 AFCON title match, making the upcoming qualifiers even more crucial for the Super Eagles.
