Super Falcons: Chiamaka Nnadozie unfazed by difficult Olympics Group C foes

By Saheed Afolabi

Nigeria’s Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, remains undisturbed by the challenging group they face at the upcoming Olympics. The team is set to compete against World champions Spain, Japan, and Brazil.

Despite the formidable opposition, Nnadozie expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and capabilities, emphasizing the blend of youth and talent as their foundation for success at the 2024 Olympics.

“We faced Canada, England, and Australia, and nobody believed in us; they thought we were just there to participate,” Nnadozie stated at the Ladies In Sport conference.

“But our team doesn’t care about external opinions; we are mentally and physically prepared. We have a young, talented squad mixed with experienced players who are playing in top European leagues and other countries.”

The Paris FC shot-stopper dismissed any notion that their performance at the last World Cup was a fluke, asserting their readiness to replicate that success.

“Football is unpredictable, so I can’t say much, but we know what we want to achieve. We are ready and will go there to make the nation proud,” Nnadozie continued.

“What we did at the last World Cup wasn’t the end. As we head to the Olympics, we will give our best to qualify from the group.”

The Super Falcons will kick off their Olympic campaign against Brazil on Thursday, July 25, at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique in Bordeaux.
