The Super Falcons of Nigeria have landed in Lisbon, Portugal, as they begin preparations for the 13th edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled to take place in Morocco from July 5 to 26, 2025.

After a long journey that began in Abuja, the team arrived in Lisbon on Sunday evening via Royal Air Maroc, with a connecting flight through Casablanca. They touched down at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport at 17:49 local time.

A total of 16 players were already in camp and spent the night at the team hotel, with more expected to join ahead of their high-profile FIFA-approved international friendly match against Portugal. The match is set to take place later today at Estádio José Gomes in Amadora.

This morning, the players and team officials were preparing to have their first breakfast in Portugal before heading for a light workout session, designed to help them shake off the jet lag from the transcontinental trip.

The training session may take place at the match venue as the team ramps up preparations for the friendly and the upcoming continental tournament.
