Super Falcons move to Casablanca for Cameroon quarter-final at WAFCON 2026
Nigeria’s Super Falcons will travel from Rabat to Casablanca on Friday ahead of their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final against Cameroon.
The defending champions will face the Indomitable Lionesses at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium on Sunday, with kick-off set for 18:00 Nigerian time.
The match represents Nigeria’s first knockout-stage test after an unbeaten group campaign against Malawi, Zambia and Egypt. The Super Falcons played all three of those fixtures in Rabat before securing their place in the last eight.
Justine Madugu’s team held their final training session at the ASFAR Training Centre in Rabat on Friday morning. The session formed part of the squad’s preparations for what is expected to be a demanding contest against Cameroon.
Nigeria finished second in their group behind Malawi, who are known as the Scorchers. That result was enough to secure progression to the quarter-finals, where they will meet a Cameroon side that topped Group D.
Cameroon collected seven points in the group stage and finished ahead of Ghana’s Black Queens to qualify as group winners. Their meeting with Nigeria will therefore bring together two sides that advanced from the tournament’s opening phase in contrasting positions.
Nigeria’s route beyond the quarter-finals has already been determined. If the Super Falcons defeat Cameroon, they will return to Rabat for the semi-finals, where they will meet the winner of the quarter-final between hosts Morocco and South Africa.
The change of venue means Nigeria will leave the city that hosted all of their group matches for Casablanca, where the Larbi Zaouli Stadium will stage Sunday’s last-eight encounter.
The Super Falcons’ preparations come shortly after the team received a $60,000 goal bonus for their victory over Egypt, adding further focus to a campaign in which Nigeria are attempting to retain the continental title.
With the quarter-final now approaching, Madugu’s side must quickly adjust to the new surroundings and concentrate on overcoming Cameroon. Victory would keep the defending champions on course for another semi-final appearance, while defeat would end their hopes of retaining the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations crown.
The fixture is scheduled to begin at 6pm Nigerian time on Sunday.
