Nigeria’s senior women’s national team have once again been shortlisted for the prestigious 2025 CAF Women’s Team of the Year Award as Africa football ruling body released the shortlist on Friday.

The reigning African champions enjoyed a phenomenal year, highlighted by their historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) triumph in Morocco.

The Super Falcons won five of their six matches, kept four clean sheets, and produced one of the tournament’s greatest comebacks — overturning a 2–0 deficit to defeat hosts Morocco 3–2 in a dramatic final.

Nigeria will compete for the award — which they won last year — against Ghana and Morocco.

The Black Queens of Ghana earned their nomination after finishing third at WAFCON 2024, edging out defending champions South Africa in the bronze-medal match.

Morocco, coached by Jorge Vilda, secured back-to-back finals appearances, falling to Nigeria in the 2024 final after also finishing as runners-up to South Africa in 2022.

With another stellar year of performances and a record-extending continental title, the Super Falcons stand as strong contenders to retain the crown as Africa’s top women’s national team.
