By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria’s senior women’s national team forward, Folashade Ijamilusi, has presented her official memorabilia to the Government of Ekiti State, in a symbolic gesture of appreciation and connection to her roots.

The memorabilia was formally handed over on Thursday at the State Capital, Ado Ekiti, by representatives from her family and management team to the Technical Adviser to the Governor on Sports, Dr. Olusola Osetoba.

Ijamilusi, who was part of the Super Falcons squad that clinched their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title, has since returned to her club side, Liaoning Baiye of the Chinese Women’s Super League.

Speaking through her management, Ijamilusi described the gesture as a way of identifying with Ekiti State and as a prelude to her eventual official visit upon conclusion of her club commitments.

The event was attended by notable personalities including Mrs Funmilayo Ijamilusi (Mother of Folashade), Mr Oladapo Emmanuel (Director, Springsoca United Academy), Mr Dele Ijamilusi (Brother to Folashade), Chief Mrs Olaoye (Founder, Olabim Football Academy & Female Sports Advocate, Kwara State), and Mr Bello Lasora (Technical Adviser, Manuelking Sports & Director, Lasora Sports Consultancy).

The Ekiti State delegation present included Dr. Olusola Osetoba (Technical Adviser to the Governor on Sports), Mr Tunde Adesanya (Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports and Youth Development), and Mr Osegboun Anthony (General Manager, Ekiti United).

Ijamilusi is a key member of Nigeria’s Super Falcons and a proud indigene of Ekiti State.

She played a crucial role in Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON triumph in Morocco and continues to excel professionally with Liaoning Baiye in China.
