Super Falcons to Open WAFCON 2026 Training Camp in Morocco on July 15

Nigeria’s senior women’s national team will open their training camp in Morocco on July 15, 2026, as preparations intensify for the expanded 16-team Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled to kick off on July 26, Prompt News reports.

The 10-time African champions will hold a one-week training camp in the coastal city of Mohammedia, situated along Morocco’s Atlantic coastline. Known for its scenic sandy beaches, including Sablettes, Manesmane and Monica Beach, the port city will serve as the team’s final preparation base before the tournament.

Head coach Justine Madugu is expected to use the camp to fine-tune his squad following a series of preparatory friendlies. The Super Falcons recently faced the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon before taking on Senegal in two international friendly matches played last month in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State.

Prompt News gathered that after completing the training camp in Mohammedia, the Nigerian team will travel approximately 44 minutes by road to Rabat, where they will be based throughout the group stage of the competition.

The defending champions have been drawn in Group C alongside Zambia, Egypt and Malawi.

According to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) match schedule, all of Nigeria’s group-stage fixtures will be played in Rabat.

Beyond the continental title, WAFCON 2026 also serves as the African qualification tournament for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The four highest-placed teams at the tournament will qualify automatically for the global showpiece.
