‘Superstars will not help Super Falcons qualify for Paris 2024 Olympics’ – Tosan Blankson

Head coach of Delta Queens, Tosan Blankson has called on Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to ensure that the country get things right, stressing that organisation and preparation would be key in the qualification for Paris 2024.

The Super Falcons missed out on the last three editions of the women’s football event of the Olympics in 2012, 2016, and 2020 and they are set to begin qualification race for a ticket at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

And the manager, who guided Delta to Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) title earlier this year, insists only quality organisation and preparation will help the team qualify for the Olympics and not arrays of superstars.

“Big names don’t play football. Organisation and preparation play football,” Blankson told Brila FM.

“If we are prepared and organise ourselves well, we will qualify. We have to put together our arrays of foreign-based players to play as a team.”

Nigeria will travel to face Ethiopia on October 25, while the return leg comes up in Abuja on October 31.

This encounter will mark the Super Falcons’ return to action since their participation in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where they reached the Round of 16 of the competition.
