SV Elversberg target Goztepe midfielder Anthony Dennis

SV Elversberg have joined the race to sign Goztepe midfielder Anthony Dennis, with the newly promoted Bundesliga club reportedly in talks over a deal for the 22-year-old Nigeria international.

Reports in Turkey suggest Goztepe could be set to sell another player to the Bundesliga after Romulo Cardoso completed a €25m move to RB Leipzig last summer. Turkiye Gazetesi says SV Elversberg are now interested in taking Dennis to Germany.

Goztepe are understood to be seeking a transfer fee of about €10m for the midfielder, although negotiations between the two clubs are still continuing.

Dennis spent last season with Goztepe and made 31 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals. The Nigerian joined the Turkish Super Lig club in January 2023 after developing at HB Academy Abuja.

His performances have also brought international recognition. Dennis was named in Nigeria’s provisional squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe in March 2025.

The midfielder had previously been linked with Coventry City at the beginning of the transfer window. However, Coventry City appear to have moved their focus to another player, with FC Nordsjælland midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi reportedly close to completing a permanent move to the Sky Blues.

Coventry City have also activated the obligation-to-buy clause included in the loan agreement that brought Nigeria international Frank Onyeka to the club.

That development appears to have reduced the likelihood of Dennis moving to Coventry City, leaving SV Elversberg as the reported leading option for the Goztepe player. The German club’s interest comes after their promotion to the Bundesliga, while Goztepe weigh up whether to accept an offer close to their €10m valuation.

A move would represent another significant transfer involving Goztepe and a Bundesliga club, following Romulo Cardoso’s switch to RB Leipzig for €25m last summer.

For now, discussions remain ongoing, and no agreement has been reached between SV Elversberg and Goztepe. Dennis remains under contract with the Turkish Super Lig side, who will consider whether the proposed fee reflects the midfielder’s value after his breakthrough season.

The 22-year-old’s potential move is one of several developments involving Coventry City-linked players during the current transfer window, with the Sky Blues instead progressing towards deals for Yirenkyi and Onyeka.
