La Liga has postponed Granada’s home match against Tenerife and Andorra’s meeting with Mallorca following the death of Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel.

Granada were due to host Tenerife at Los Carmenes on Saturday, 7 November, while Andorra were scheduled to welcome Mallorca on Sunday, 8 November. The new dates for both fixtures will be announced in due course.

The postponements follow the death of De Miguel, who passed away in hospital on Tuesday morning after suffering injuries in a collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono during the two sides’ match.

The decision was made after a request from Tenerife and Andorra, the clubs involved in the game in which the incident occurred, according to Spanish newspaper Marca. The move is intended to respect the mourning felt by Tenerife’s players and supporters after the tragedy that has affected the club.

Both postponed fixtures are in the Spanish second division. Granada’s match against Tenerife had been listed for 7 November 2026, with Andorra versus Mallorca scheduled for 8 November 2026.

The Spanish Football Federation also announced on Tuesday evening that matches in the latest round of the Copa del Rey would be suspended as a mark of respect for De Miguel’s death.

The status of the remaining fixtures is still awaiting clarification. It has not yet been confirmed whether the suspension will apply to every match in the round or only to the fixture involving the Canary Islands club.

Granada and Mallorca have expressed their understanding of the decision to postpone their matches and backed the move in response to the exceptional circumstances.

Both clubs said they supported the postponements as Spanish football mourns the death of De Miguel and stands alongside those affected by the tragedy.
