Tochukwu Nnadi played the full 90 minutes and registered an assist as Marseille came from behind to defeat Angers 5-2 in Sunday’s Ligue 1 meeting.

The Super Eagles midfielder was making his fourth appearance for Marseille and made a valuable contribution from the centre of the pitch. His extended involvement will be particularly welcome after recurring injuries have restricted his playing time this season.

Angers made the stronger start and took the lead in the 14th minute through Lilian Raolisoa. Marseille gradually established control, however, enjoying 58% possession as they turned the match in their favour before half-time.

Himad Abdelli brought the visitors level in the 37th minute before Nouhoum Kamissoko completed the turnaround six minutes before the interval. Marseille went into the break 2-1 ahead.

The French side continued to attack after the restart and created further opportunities to increase their advantage. Amine Gouiri was denied from the penalty spot in the 59th minute, but he made an immediate response by scoring from open play moments later.

That goal put Marseille 3-1 in front and appeared to give them a firm grip on the match. Angers refused to concede, though, and reduced the deficit when Amine El Ouazzani converted a penalty in the 74th minute.

The home side’s hopes of completing a comeback were short-lived. Marseille regained their attacking momentum late on, with Amine Harit scoring in the 83rd minute to restore a two-goal cushion.

Igor Paixao added a fifth just two minutes later, completing a convincing away victory and confirming Marseille’s control of the closing stages.

For Nnadi, the match provided a full competitive outing alongside his assist, marking an encouraging return to a more prominent role after his injury problems.
