Tottenham give Nigeria-eligible winger Miracle Adewole new contract

Tottenham Hotspur winger Miracle Adewole has signed a new contract with the club and will step up to the U21 squad on a full-time basis.

The German-born Nigerian, who joined Tottenham Hotspur at the age of seven, has spent the past three years playing mainly for the U18s. He agreed his first professional contract with the Lilywhites in April 2025 and has now been rewarded with a further deal after impressing in the club’s youth teams.

Adewole has yet to make his senior debut for the north London club but has trained with the first team on several occasions.

The 17-year-old was part of the Tottenham Hotspur U17 side that won the Premier League Cup during the 2024/25 season.

Last season, he represented Spurs in the U18 Premier League, FA Youth Cup, Premier League 2 and UEFA Youth League. Across those competitions, Adewole recorded 11 goal involvements in 36 appearances.

His promotion to the U21 squad marks the next stage of his development after a sustained period with the club’s younger age groups.

Adewole is also eligible to play international football for England, having lived in the country for more than a decade. He currently represents Nigeria’s footballing heritage through his eligibility but has yet to make a senior international appearance for either nation.

Tottenham’s decision to extend his contract comes approximately a year after the winger signed his first professional deal. The new agreement underlines the club’s continued belief in a player who has progressed through its youth system since joining at the age of seven.
