Tottenham hand new contract to Nigeria winger Miracle Adewole

Tottenham Hotspur have rewarded promising winger Miracle Adewole with a new contract after the German-born Nigeria youth international impressed for the club’s academy sides.

The teenager’s contract extension was announced on Tottenham Hotspur’s official website and comes with a change in his status at the club. Adewole has now been promoted to Tottenham Hotspur’s U21 squad on a full-time basis, having spent the past three years primarily playing for the U18s.

Adewole joined Tottenham Hotspur when he was seven and signed his first professional contract with the club in April 2025. Around a year after agreeing that initial deal, he has secured improved terms following a productive period with the club’s youth teams.

Although he has not yet made his senior debut for the north London club, Adewole has trained with the first team on several occasions.

The winger was part of Tottenham Hotspur’s U17 team that won the Premier League Cup during the 2024/25 season. His progress continued last season, when he represented the club in the U18 Premier League, FA Youth Cup, Premier League 2 and UEFA Youth League.

Across those competitions, Adewole made 36 appearances and contributed to 11 goals, either scoring or providing assists. Those performances have helped earn him a full-time place within the U21 squad as he continues his development towards senior football.

Adewole’s international future also remains open. Born in Germany and eligible to play for Nigeria, he can also represent England after living in the country for more than a decade.

The new agreement represents another step in the winger’s progression at Tottenham Hotspur. Having joined the academy as a seven-year-old, he has moved through the club’s youth structure and is now set to compete regularly at U21 level.

His promotion follows a season in which he gained experience across a range of domestic and European youth competitions, while his involvement with the first team has given him an early opportunity to work in a senior environment.

Adewole has yet to appear for Tottenham Hotspur’s first team in a competitive match, but the contract extension and move to the U21s underline the club’s confidence in his potential.
