Trabzonspor Vice President Opens Up on Paul Onuachu Transfer Speculation
Trabzonspor vice president Zeyyat Kafkas has confirmed that Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu is attracting serious transfer interest from clubs in Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, while admitting the Turkish giants could consider selling the Nigerian if they receive an irresistible offer.
Onuachu has become one of the most sought-after forwards in Turkish football following a remarkable 2025-26 campaign in which he spearheaded Trabzonspor’s attack with 26 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions.
The prolific striker played a decisive role as Trabzonspor lifted the Turkish Cup and secured a third-place finish in the Super Lig, while his 22 league goals earned him a share of the division’s Golden Boot alongside Başakşehir forward Eldor Shomurodov.
His outstanding performances have inevitably attracted interest ahead of the new season, with several clubs reportedly monitoring the 31-year-old’s situation.
Speaking about the Nigerian’s future, Kafkas confirmed that Trabzonspor have already received multiple approaches but insisted the club’s priority remains keeping one of its key attacking figures.
“There are offers for Onuachu. We received two offers from Türkiye and one from Saudi Arabia,” Kafkas was quoted as saying by Ege de SonSöz.
“Onuachu is part of our core squad, and we don’t want to disrupt it unless the offer is a very large sum.
“But as I said, if a very good offer comes in, and we consider all the parameters and decide we should let him go, then we might. Actually, we don’t have any players who are unsellable.
“We have a certain playing style from last year, and we don’t want to stray too far from that core.”
Kafkas’ comments underline Trabzonspor’s desire to maintain the spine of the squad that delivered silverware last season, while acknowledging the financial realities of modern football, where substantial offers can be difficult to reject.
Despite the growing speculation surrounding his future, Onuachu remains fully focused on preparations for the new campaign. The former Genk and Southampton striker was spotted training with his teammates during Thursday’s session at the Mehmet Ali Yılmaz Facilities as Trabzonspor continued their pre-season programme.
The FC Ebedei academy graduate remains under contract with Trabzonspor until June 2028, placing the Turkish club in a strong negotiating position should interested clubs decide to intensify their pursuit.
With interest mounting from both the Turkish Super Lig and the Saudi Pro League, the coming weeks are expected to determine whether Onuachu continues to lead Trabzonspor’s attack or embarks on another chapter in his career after a career-best season in Türkiye.
