Transitioning from football to golf came at a cost – Peter Odemwingie

By Saheed Afolabi

Former Nigerian international Peter Odemwingie has shared insights into his challenging transition from football to golf.

After graduating from the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) school, Odemwingie has become a professional golfer, a journey he admits was far from easy.

The Super Eagles legend emphasized that his perseverance and determination were key to his success, despite the significant difficulties and heavy workload associated with the course.

Odemwingie credited his Nigerian spirit for helping him push through the toughest moments of his studies.

“I am someone who has a goal. I gave it a good shot. It was hard,” Odemwingie told Channels TV.

“People quit this degree in year two; many boys can’t cope with the volume [of study]. It was hard. But my Nigerian spirit helped me persevere through the year two when there was a lot to do study-wise.”
