Troost-Ekong and Balogun Ready to Reclaim Spots After Suspension as Osimhen Aims for Milestone Bundesliga Game

Super Eagles defenders William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun are poised for a return to action, having served suspensions for their respective clubs. Troost-Ekong, who faced a three-match ban following his red card against Galatasaray, is in contention for a starting spot in Bursaspor’s Turkish Super Lig clash against Sivasspor.

Despite missing the 1-0 victory over Kayerispor, Troost-Ekong featured in Bursaspor’s matchday squad in the previous game against Osmanlispor. The 24-year-old defender, with 22 appearances and two goals this season, brings crucial defensive stability to his team.

Mikel Agu and Abdullahi Shehu, fellow Super Eagles teammates at Bursaspor, are also expected to play pivotal roles in the upcoming match. Agu, with 18 league appearances and two goals, provides a strong midfield presence, while Shehu, with seven games since joining in January, adds defensive depth.

In the German Bundesliga, Leon Balogun eyes a return to Mainz 05’s starting lineup when they face Eintracht Frankfurt. Balogun served a one-match suspension after being sent off in the 0-0 draw against Hamburg. The 29-year-old defender, with 12 Bundesliga appearances this season, is a key figure in Mainz’s backline.

Meanwhile, Wolfsburg’s Victor Osimhen, having recovered from a calf injury, anticipates his 10th Bundesliga appearance this season when they host Schalke 04. Osimhen, the 19-year-old Nigerian international, has made two starts and nine substitute appearances, aiming to make a significant impact in the remainder of the season.

The return of these Super Eagles defenders to the field adds depth and experience to their respective teams, setting the stage for an exciting weekend of football action.
