TSG Hoffenheim unveil Gift Orban

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria forward Gift Orban has completed his move to the German side TSG Hoffenheim.

He joined the German Bundesliga outfit from French Ligue 1 side, Lyon with a long-term contract.

The deal is valued at €9 million with up to €3 million in potential bonuses, of which €1 million is guaranteed.

The deal also included a 7.5% sell-on clause for Lyon.

With superb form for Stabaek and Belgian side Gent, where he scored about 18 goals in 33 games, Orban joined Lyon in 2024.

Unfortunately, he could not replicate the goal-scoring form he had at his former team the French side.

He managed three goals in 16 games making it inevitable to activate a move away from the French giants.

The 22-year-old Benue State-born player started his youth career at Bison and Stabaek before getting into the main team of the latter.

He is joining a list of Nigerian players in the German top flight, including Victor Boniface, Nathan Tella, and Frank Onyeka, to mention a few.

Nigeria defender, Kelvin Akpoguma will be one of Orban’s teammate at TSG Hoffenheim.
