Two young Nigerian referees join others to train ahead of WAFU-B U-17 Girls Cup

A total number of 10 young referees, including two from Nigeria, have undergone preparatory training sessions ahead of the maiden edition of the West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) Girls Cup in Ghana.

Young referees from WAFU-B member associations, including Gbemisola Yusuf and Onyekwere Rachael Ozichi from Nigeria, were trained on the FIFA pitch on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

The instructors were Mamaga Augustina Fugah and Emmanuella Aglago from Ghana, Ahoua Aya Irene from Cote D’Ivoire, and Okwugba Felicia Chibuogu from Nigeria as fitness instructors.

Junior referees will officiate the 2024 WAFU-B U-17 Girls Cup which will take place from December 12 to 26 in Prampram.

Meanwhile, WAFU B Executive Director Phillipe Tchere held a meeting with WAFU B officials and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the WAFU B Girls U-17 Cup.

For the first time, WAFU B Zone assembled an all-female team to manage the entire competition.

Female officials include coordinators, match commissioners, media and digital managers, referee evaluators, and security managers.

Executive Director Phillipe Tchere said WAFU Zone B was committed to promoting inclusion, creativity, and excellence.
