By Wale Mustapha
Nigerian defender, Tyrone Ebuehi scored the lone goal for his Serie A club, Empoli in their 1-0 win over Sampdoria on Monday.
The Super Eagles fullback couldn’t have had a better way to end his first club goal in three seasons as the goal came in the 55th minute when he glancingly headed a Razvan Marin’s corner past the Sampdoria keeper.
That was Ebuehi’s first goal since scored his only club goal for FC Twente in the Eredivise two seasons ago.
He would then be subbed off in the lone goal victory for Slovenian Petar Stojanovic but he has made his impact for the hosts.
His goal wouldn’t have make more meaning for Empoli but the hosts were lucky as VAR upturned a late goal scored by Sampdoria through Gambia’s Omar Colley.
The former Venezia full back has featured nine times for Empoli this campaign with one assist so far but has now been topped with his maiden Serie A goal.
The goal has also helped Empoli to 12th on the log of Lega Calcio with 22 points to show from 18 games.
Empoli will be making a trip to San Siro for their Serie A against Inter Milan.
