U17 WWCQ: Dominant Flamingos thump Central African Republic 6-0

The Nigeria U17 women’s national team on Sunday thrashed their counterparts from the Central African Republic 6-0 in the first leg of their FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
The encounter took place at the Stade Ominsport Douala, Cameroon, as there is no FIFA-approved stadium for international football matches Central African Republic.
The Central African Republic booked a date with Flamingos following the withdrawal of Mauritius due to financial reasons.
Flamingos who won the bronze medal at the 2022 edition in India, are looking to book a space at the 2024 FIFA U17 WWC in Dominica Republic.
Etim Edidiong opened the floodgate with her first goal of the day before Prisca Nwachukwu made it 2-0 after just 38 minutes.
Moshood Shakirat Abidemi then joined the party to become the star of the day with a hat trick to her name. She netted a quickfire double to hand Nigeria a comfortable 4-0 lead at the break.
After the break, Edidiong got her second goal of the day to make it 5-0 before Ahakirat completed her hattrick to round off a dominant display.
The return leg match will take place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, on Friday, 9th February 2024.
With a foot now in the third round of the qualifying campaign, Nigeria will potentially face the winner of the clash between Burkina Faso and Guinea.
Three countries will represent Africa at the World Cup to be hosted in the Dominican Republic between October 16 and November 3.
