Nigeria’s Minister of Sport, Senator John Enoh, has expressed strong support for the U20 national team, the Falconets, as they prepare to face Japan in the round of 16 of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

Following an impressive group stage where the Falconets won two matches against Korea Republic and Venezuela, and lost only to Germany, Enoh is confident in their ability to advance further in the tournament.

He praised the team’s skill and resilience, asserting, “The Falconets have shown remarkable skill and resilience throughout the group stage. I have no doubt that they have what it takes to succeed against Japan.”

Enoh encouraged the players to approach the match with confidence and trust in their individual abilities.

“I urge the girls to approach the game with confidence and belief in their abilities. The entire country is behind you, and I have every confidence that you will make us proud. Play with your hearts and leave no stone unturned.”

The sport minister emphasized the importance of a winning mindset, urging the Falconets to focus on their strengths rather than being intimidated by their opponents.

“You have already demonstrated that you can compete with the best, and I want you to go out there and fight for every ball, for every chance, and for victory. Japan is a strong team, but so are you. This is your moment to make history, and we are all behind you.”
