Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Dino Toppmöller has downplayed the absence of Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen, insisting his side will not be distracted by the Nigerian striker’s injury-enforced absence.
Frankfurt host the Turkish champions at Deutsche Bank Park on Thursday evening in their UEFA Champions League group stage opener.
Osimhen, Galatasaray’s record signing, will play no part after sustaining an ankle injury while representing Nigeria in a World Cup qualifier against Rwanda earlier this month.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Toppmöller dismissed suggestions that Osimhen’s unavailability would significantly impact the contest.
“Whether he plays or not is irrelevant to us,” the coach stated. “Both teams will have eleven top players on the pitch tomorrow.”
