Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack has heaped praise on Nathan Tella’s stunning 25-second goal, which played a pivotal role in Bayer Leverkusen’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund.
Tella opened the scoring in sensational fashion on Friday night at Signal Iduna Park, breaking the deadlock just 25 seconds into the game after a defensive mishap by Dortmund.
The hosts hesitated in possession, and Tella seized the opportunity, intercepting the ball and unleashing a powerful volley from the edge of the box that flew past goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
The goal marked Tella’s first Bundesliga strike of the season and ended an 11-game goal drought in the domestic league, signaling his return to form.
Reacting to the goal, Ballack praised Tella’s sharp instinct and clinical finishing that set the tone for Leverkusen’s win.
“The whole team moved up. The ball was intercepted and Tella didn’t hesitate,” Ballack said, as quoted by Sports1. “An outstanding finish, with full confidence into the near corner. Unstoppable.”
