UWCL: Chiamaka Nnadozie saves another penalty as Paris FC edge Real Madrid

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Newly crowned African Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year and Nigeria goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie saved another penalty for her French side, Paris FC as the team secured a 2-1 win over Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Julie Dufour gave the host an early lead in the fourth minute of play at the Stade Charlety.

Two minutes later, the French capital club doubled the lead thanks to Gaetane Thiney’s goal from Mathilde Bourdieu.

The Spanish side had the chance of reducing the deficit from the penalty spot in the 28th minute.

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup final goal scorer for Spain, Olga Cammorna face to face with Nnadozie missed the resulting spot kick as the Nigerian guessed the right-hand effort of the Spaniard.

Carolina Moller Hansen reduced the deficit for Real Madrid eight minutes into the second half but Paris FC held on for their first win of the UWCL group stage.

Nnadozie was behind the sticks for 90 minutes during her first game since being crowned the maiden CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.

The win moved Paris FC to the third position in Group D with three points, two behind Chelsea FC and four short of the leaders, BK Hacken.

Paris FC will next face Paris Saint Germain in a league encounter on Sunday, December 17 before visiting Real Madrid in the Champions League three days later.
