Victor Boniface weighs in on coaching debate for Super Eagles

Nigerian international Victor Boniface has shared his perspective on the ongoing debate between home-based and foreign coaches for the Super Eagles.
Following Finidi George’s resignation after just two games, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) appointed Augustine Eguavoen as the interim manager, amid a failed attempt to secure a foreign coach.
Boniface, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen and has experience under various coaches, emphasizing that regardless of who is chosen to lead the Super Eagles, criticisms are inevitable.
“The truth is even if we bring Guardiola, Nigerians will still have something to say,” Boniface remarked during an interview with Football Fans Tribe. “But I’m the type of person that doesn’t care about what people think because they’re not here with the team.”
He recounted that the focus should remain on the players’ performance on the pitch.
“Our job is to give it all on the pitch, and that’s it. It’s life. People will always criticize. So, no matter which coach you bring, people always have something to say.”
Boniface’s comments reflect a pragmatic approach to the ongoing debate about coaching the national team, stressing that the team’s success ultimately relies on the players’ dedication and effort, rather than the constant scrutiny surrounding the coaching staff.
