Victor Mbaoma departs APR FC after two successful seasons in Rwanda

By Wale Mustapha

Nigerian striker Victor Mbaoma has ended his two-year spell with Rwandan champions APR FC following the expiration of his contract, the club announced on Saturday.

Mbaoma joined APR at the start of the 2022/23 season from Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Enyimba FC.

During his time in Kigali, the 26-year-old made a significant impact, helping the club to consecutive league titles and securing a domestic double last season.

He finished the 2023/24 campaign as joint-top scorer in the Rwandan Premier League with 15 goals and added two more in four appearances in the CAF Champions League.

A former forward for Remo Stars and Akwa United, Mbaoma was widely regarded as one of APR’s most consistent performers over the last two seasons, playing a key role in the club’s recent dominance of domestic football.

His next destination is yet to be confirmed, but the striker is expected to attract interest from clubs across Africa and beyond, given his strong form and continental experience.
