Victor Osimhen admits rejecting huge offer from Saudi Arabia
By Saheed Afolabi
Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen has admitted he rejected a mouthwatering offer from Al Hilal.
The Saudi Arabian side had their humongous bid for Osimhen rejected by Napoli in the summer.
The Super Eagles striker said he has never entertained the thoughts of leaving the Partenopei and he had to reject a huge offer to stay in Italy.
The 24 year old revealed the offer could have changed his life if he had accepted amidst pressure from Al Hilal to accept the offer.
“What was said is true. I have to be honest, I never thought about leaving last summer because Napoli wanted to keep me, but when the offer came from Saudi Arabia, a huge offer, it was hard to refuse. I spoke to Napoli and decided to stay,” Osimhen was quoted by Complete Sports.
“It was crazy… The more I said no, the more they increased the financial offer. It would have changed my life, they never gave up. But I said, no guys, I’m staying.
“Of course. I had talks in August, it was a huge decision for me to make. I spoke to Napoli, and we decided together to refuse.
“I didn’t want people to think I wanted to leave. It was a positive decision for my career. As much as you play football for money, there is also so much more to it.”
Osimhen netted 26 goals in 32 appearances in the Serie A last season to win the golden boot award.
The Nigeria forward has scored six goals in ten appearances this season.
