Victor Osimhen plays down Galatasaray exit talk amid Arsenal links

Victor Osimhen has dismissed speculation about his Galatasaray future, saying his priority is helping the Turkish Super Lig champions achieve success this season.

The Nigeria international has been linked with a possible move away from Galatasaray, with Premier League champions Arsenal reported to be among the clubs monitoring his situation.

Osimhen played down the rumours when asked about his future, making clear that he is concentrating on his responsibilities with the Turkish club rather than considering a transfer.

“Rumors always circulate during transfer seasons. I’ll focus on my job. I’m focused on my work. We’ll see and think about the future then,” the striker told the club’s official website.

The 27-year-old made an immediate impact at the start of the new campaign, scoring both Galatasaray goals in their 2-2 draw with Arca Corum FK.

Despite Osimhen’s individual contribution, Galatasaray were unable to secure victory after a closely contested match. The result left the striker disappointed, and he described the opening fixture as a warning for his side.

“Disappointment! I think it was actually a wake-up call. We weren’t underestimating our opponent. These kinds of opponents are tough,” added Osimhen.

The forward said Galatasaray had expected a difficult contest but acknowledged that the team needed to respond quickly and learn from the performance.

“We knew they would challenge us, and they did. We need to wake up. We’re experiencing disappointment. Let this be a wake-up call. Knowing that all the upcoming matches will be difficult, we will learn from our mistakes, improve ourselves, and continue on our way.”

Osimhen’s two goals made him the standout performer for the Yellow and Reds, although his contribution was not enough to earn Galatasaray maximum points in their first match of the season.

His comments come as reports continue to connect him with Arsenal, who are the current Premier League champions. However, the striker has indicated that any discussion about his next move can wait until a later stage.

For now, Osimhen’s focus remains on Galatasaray’s campaign and on helping the club build on its status as Turkish Super Lig champions. The draw against Arca Corum FK provided an early reminder of the challenges ahead, with the striker insisting that the team must improve as the season progresses.
