Victor Osimhen thumbs down Christophe Galtier’s Napoli appointment

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigerian prolific forward Victor Osimhen has reportedly advised Napoli against pursuing his former coach Christophe Galtier, who is on the verge of being dismissed by Paris Saint-Germain.
The striker who joined Lille from Riyal Charleroi for €22.40 million, enjoyed a fruitful season under Galtier’s guidance during the 2019/20 season.
The 24-year-old bagged 18 goals and provided six assists in 38 games across all competitions before attracting big money move to Napoli, with the red-hot striker becoming the most expensive African player at the time.
However, the Partenopei need a new tactician after Luciano Spalletti decided to walk away, having won the club’s first Scudetto in 33 years.
According to sources from France, Footmercato (via Tutto Napoli), Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis sought the opinion of Osimhen regarding Galtier, given their previous working relationship at Lille.
It was claimed that the Super Eagles No.9 believes Galtier is not up to the task of leading Napoli and suggested De Laurentiis look elsewhere for a new coach.
Meanwhile, the latest hot favorite to become the coach of Napoli is Paulo Sousa, the current manager of Salernitana.
Osimhen is one of the most anticipated summer transfers as top clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich have been linked to the Nigerian sensation.
