Victor Osimhen warned against joining Juventus

By Monsurah Olatunji

Former Italy and Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni has advised Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen against joining Juventus, despite ongoing reports linking the Super Eagles star with a move to the Serie A giants.

Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray from Napoli, has been in scintillating form, scoring 14 goals and providing four assists in 18 Turkish Super Lig appearances, in addition to five goals and one assist in the Europa League.

The 26-year-old’s impressive performances have caught the attention of several top clubs, with Juventus reportedly showing interest. However, Toni, a 2006 FIFA World Cup winner, has expressed doubts over whether Osimhen would flourish under Juventus’ management.

“I’m unsure if it would make much difference,” Toni told Football Italia. “At the end of the season, everyone will have to make assessments, starting from Juventus, who must decide what kind of striker they want to rely on.”

Toni pointed out that while Osimhen brings more depth to the attacking line than Juventus’ current striker Dusan Vlahovic, the Nigerian forward might not contribute as much to the build-up play, suggesting that a move to Juventus may not necessarily provide the desired tactical fit.

“Osimhen offers more depth than Vlahovic but perhaps links the play even less than Dusan. So, I’m unsure if it would make much difference for Thiago Motta.”

As Osimhen’s future remains uncertain, Toni’s comments add to the growing conversation surrounding the striker’s potential next move, with many waiting to see which club will secure his signature when he eventually leaves Napoli.
