‘Victor Osimhen’s legacy as top scorer will endure forever’ —Serie A

Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen has earned praise from the governing body that runs the Italian top-flight league, Lega Serie A, for his contribution to Napoli’s Scudetto success last season.
The Partenopei won the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years with Osimhen contributing 26 goals and four assists in 32 league appearances.
The 24-year-old was awarded the best striker in Serie A ahead of Inter Milan’s Lautauro Martinez and AC Milan’s Rafael Leao.
Although, the goal poacher missed out on the Most Valuable Player award to his Napoli teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Osimhen became the first-ever African to finish as top scorer and the Nigerian earned plaudits from the league organizers.
“The season is over but his legacy as capocannoniere will endure for eternity,” the league body wrote on their Twitter handle. Victor Osimhen: The 2022/23 top scorer with 26 goals!.”
Osimhen is expected to be in action for the Super Eagles when they face Sierra Leone on match-day five of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers in Monrovia, Liberia.
