Joy Jerry, the influential playmaker for Edo Queens, was overjoyed to be named Player of the Match in their recent group game against Etincele.
Jerry’s decisive goal secured a 1-0 victory, marking her second goal in three matches of the competition.
In her first start of the tournament, Jerry took full advantage of the opportunity, contributing significantly to her team’s success.
“I seized the chance given to me for my first start, and it turned out well for the team,” Jerry said at the post-match press conference.
“The coach emphasized that every player needed to be prepared and ready to step up, so I didn’t see it as a challenge but rather as an opportunity.”
Expressing her excitement about the individual accolade, Jerry thanked her teammates, attributing the success to their collective effort.
“I am thrilled to win the Player of the Game award. I’m really happy and want to thank the team. This was a team effort, and that’s why I’m here. Scoring two goals in three games is very satisfying.”
Edo Queens will face Inter D’Abidjan in their semifinal clash, scheduled for Tuesday in Bouake.
