By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Ahead of the West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) U-20 Championship, the Nigeria U-20 national team has begun their final preparations at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

On Tuesday morning, the Flying Eagles got their first feel of the stadium, as part of their strategy to acclimatize ahead of the highly anticipated tournament.

The Nigerian team is entering the final stages of their preparation under the guidance of head coach Aliyu Zubairu and his technical crew. The session saw the full complement of players present, working to refine tactics and ensure peak performance.

The two-hour training session was primarily focused on recovery, giving the players a chance to restore energy after intense earlier sessions. In the evening, the team reconvened for a second training session to fine-tune their tactical approach for the upcoming matches.

The Flying Eagles are drawn in Group B, where they will face Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire. Their campaign kicks off on Friday, October 18, 2024, when they take on Burkina Faso. This will be followed by their final group match against Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday, October 24, at the Stade Municipal.

As the team continues to sharpen their strategies, anticipation builds for their performance in the WAFU-B U-20 Championship, which will serve as a crucial step toward qualifying for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
