WAFU-B U20 Women’s Cup: Nigeria wrap up successful camp with Imo Strikers win

Nigeria U20 side crushed Imo Strikers Queens 6-1 in a local friendly match played in Abuja on Wednesday.
The Falconets wrapped up their preparations with big win over the Nigeria Women’s Football League Championship outfit – a few days after they secured a 5-1 victory over an Abuja U15 boys followed by a 3-0 win against Josiah Academy and a 10-0 thrashing of Paul E recently at the same venue in another friendly game.
It took Christopher Danjuma’s side 11 minutes to opening the flood gates at the FIFA Goal Project, Abuja as Blessing Okpe fired an assist from Flourish Sebastine into the back of the net.
Midfield magician, Esther Onyenezide made it 2-0 for Nigeria in the 27th minute with a sumptuous lob.
Imo Strikers were given a lifeline in the game as Harmony Achifula was brought down in the 18 meters box and she made no mistake to score sending Inyene Etim the wrong way on the brink of half.
Midfield maestro, Taiwo Afolabi provided a cool assist for prolific forward, Flourish Sebastine to extend Falconets lead in the 53rd minute.
Both Afolabi and Flourish Sebastine combined to score Nigeria’s 4th goal of the encounter in the 55th minute.
Four minutes later, Onyenezide grabbed her brace of the game from the spot as tricky forward, Amina Bello was hacked down in the penalty box.
Adaobi Oda completed the 6-1 thumping defeat to Imo Strikers Queens with a goal in the 89th minute.
The Falconets have scored 24 goals in their preparatory matches in Nigeria and conceded two goals in the process.
Nigeria are paired in group B of the maiden Wafu-B U20 Women’s Cup with Burkina Faso, Niger Republic and Togo. The eight-nation tournament will hold from May 20 to June 3 in Kumasi, Ghana.
