Wafu-B Women’s Champions League: Taiwo Afolabi reveals Delta Queens target

Delta Queens skipper, Taiwo Afolabi has revealed the club’s target at the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League beginning in Benin City on Friday, August 18, 2023.
Afolabi played an integral part in the club’s triumph of the NWFL Premiership title in Asaba and she has been given the mantle of leadership to lead the club’s quest for glory at the regional showpiece qualifiers.
While savouring her incredible captainship role, the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup bronze medalist assures that her side are mentally and physically ready to take on any team in the tournament.
“Our preparation towards the Wafu B as been excellent. We are physically and mentally prepared for the task ahead,” Afolabi told NigeriaFootball.ng.
“I was surprised when I was named as new captain for the team because is something I never dreamt of, but I accepted it as part of the challenge that will make my game improve because as a captain you have to give 100 percent of commitment in every area of what will make the team win.
“I take that as a new challenge that will take my game to the next level so I felt no pressure because am always focused on my improvement and take this as what will make my game improve.
“With the kind of training we received from the coaches we are going out there to give nothing less than 100% performance to achieve our aim of winning the WAFU-B.”
Delta Queens will be participating at the Wafu B Champions League for the first time and they will be eyeing the sole qualification ticket to the CAF Women’s Champions League in Ivory Coast in November.
