Wafu Zone B Women’s Champions League qualifiers get new date

The West Africa Zone B Association has amended the qualification dates for the 2023 qualifiers to the CAF Women’s Champions League.
The WAFU Zone B body are billed to present their national champions to compete for a slot on the continent.
The qualification for WAFU Zone B was initially scheduled to be played from September 10 to 25 but has now been dragged back to August 18 to September 3, 2023.
Rivers Angels represented Nigeria in the inaugural edition of the tournament but failed to go beyond the group stage in 2021, while Bayelsa Queens picked the slot for the last edition where they won bronze in 2022.
However, the Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership is yet to be concluded this year, and hence, no team is currently eligible to represent the nation at the qualifiers.
Mamelodi Sundowns were the inaugural winners of the tournament but bowed to hosts AS FAR in the 2022 finals.
For the third time in a row, Cote D’Ivoire will host the 2023 WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League zonal qualifiers.
