‘We are planning to install VAR at regional stadiums’ –  NFF president assures referees

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has concluded arrangements to install Video Assistant Referee, VAR at the regional stadiums across the country with a new approach to train and retrain referees to achieve the purpose.

NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau disclosed this on Saturday at the National Elective Congress of the Nigeria (Football) Referees’ Association, NRA held at Bovina View Hotels, Ilorin.

Alhaji Gusau who was represented by a top official of the federation, Dr. Adebayo Aminu charged the incoming leadership of the association to come up with a development planning, to forecast, plan, organize and ensure the future of Nigerian referees are properly nurtured and watered towards the growth of the Nigerian football.

Dr. Aminu who reiterated the unflinching support of the NFF to NRA in their quest to change the face of football in the country, said installation of VAR and Nigerian referees having in depth knowledge about its usage will aid the growth and development of football in Nigeria.

At the end of elective congress, a retired FIFA referee, Alhaji Sani Zubairu emerged new President of the Association to replace Otunba Tade Azeez who served for eight years.
