Nigeria head coach, Jose Peseiro has admitted to missing the scoring prowess of Victor Osimhen as dropped four points in two matches.
Osimhen was a notable omission during the international break after suffering an injury that sidelined him since mid-October.
In his absence, the Super Eagles have had a poor start to their World Cup qualifying campaign, failing to win in two games as they only managed to draw against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
However, the Portuguese tactician feels Osimhen was not the only key player missing through injury, stressing that it wasn’t player unavailability that led to the team’s poor performance.
“Of course,” he said on missing the Napoli striker,” Peseiro told media.
“With Ndidi, with Osimhen, with Zaidu, Taiwo, and many other players, but I think we have enough players; sometimes injuries happen.
“Samuel Chukwueze as well; they could not come, but I think we have the team to beat Zimbabwe. I think the key point was lack of energy.”
