Women’s World Cup: Nigeria’s Rasheedat Ajibade fired up for Australia duel
By Saheed Afolabi
Nigeria forward Rasheedat Ajibade is fired up to play against Australia at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brisbane on Thursday.
The Atletico Madrid forward was suspended for Nigeria first game against Canada due to a sent off card received against Morocco at the last Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Super Falcons playmaker said she’s really pumped up for the clash against Australia and she is ready to give her best but insists a win over co-host won’t come easy.
“Personally I’m fine really pumped up for that game and ready to give my hundred percent,” Ajibade told NFF TV.
“It’s going to be a difficult game playing against the host team in a very big stadium with so much crowd. A lot of factors is going to play, we are going to play against a lot of factors in that game. I think we have this, we have done it against the big teams and I trust the whole team.”
The one-time Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership goal queen believes the Falcons have the needed capacity and talent to get past the Matildas.
“We have the capacity, the talent, the energy, the strength and we just have to bring in our A game. It’s going to be a fun game that way.
“I’m happy to be back, I’m happy the team welcomed me and it shows they really value everyone in the team. I’m excited to have my first game and I’m ready to give my hundred percent.”
The Super Falcons will be banking on the return of Ajibade and Halimatu Ayinde into the first XI fold to knockoff Australia.
