World Cup Qualifier: NFF sends advance party to Kigali to ensure Super Eagles’ smooth preparation

By Dayo Awoniyi

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has taken proactive steps to ensure the country’s preparation goes smoothly as the Super Eagles gear up for their pivotal 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.

An advance party from the NFF will depart for Kigali on Friday, March 14, 2025, a full week ahead of the match.

Their mission is to collaborate with the Rwanda Football Association to create a conducive environment for the Super Eagles.

The match against Rwanda is a must-win for Nigeria, who currently sit fifth in their qualifying group with just three points from four games.

With six games left, the Super Eagles are trailing group leaders Rwanda by four points, making the upcoming matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe crucial for their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

The advance party’s primary responsibility will be to ensure the team’s smooth arrival, facilitate comfortable accommodations, and remove any distractions, allowing the players and coaching staff to focus entirely on securing a crucial victory.
