Wydad Casablanca Contemplates January Departure for Nigerian Forward Chisom Chikatara

Wydad Casablanca, reigning African champions, are reportedly considering the departure of Nigerian forward Chisom Chikatara during the upcoming January transfer window. Chikatara, who arrived from Nigeria Professional Football League club Abia Warriors last year, has struggled to secure a regular spot in the team due to a combination of persistent injuries and a loss of form.
This season, the Nigerian forward found limited playing time under coach Houcine Amouta, who successfully guided Wydad to clinch the CAF Champions League title. The club insider suggested a potential exit for Chikatara, citing the coach’s belief in the player’s apparent lack of motivation despite the efforts and opportunities provided.
The insider shared on social media, “Chisom Chikatara will most likely leave Wydad in January if recent comments by coach Hosni Amouta is anything to go by. The coach believes he has lacked motivation to play for the club despite efforts and opportunities given to him.”
In addition to Chikatara, Naim Aarab and Rachid Hosni are also rumored to be considering departures. Aarab reportedly desires more regular playing time and is eager to pursue opportunities elsewhere, while Housni has an offer from a club in Qatar.
Chikatara rose to prominence after scoring four goals for Nigeria’s home-based team at the 2016 African Nations Championship in Rwanda. The potential departure of the Nigerian forward in January marks a significant development for Wydad Casablanca as they assess their squad dynamics for the upcoming season.
