Yemi Olanrewaju Reaffirms Commitment to Rivers United Amid Shooting Stars Links

Rivers United assistant coach Yemi Olanrewaju has reaffirmed his commitment to the club despite recent reports linking him with a move to other top sides in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Olanrewaju said he enjoys a cordial relationship with the Rivers United management and head coach Finidi George, stressing that the club has intensified preparations ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The coach, who has previously been linked with Shooting Stars, said he remains focused on fulfilling his contract with Rivers United and would not abandon the club midway through the season.

“I am a coach with credibility and values, and there are many things I hold in high esteem, and one of them is respect,” Olanrewaju said.

“I love Shooting and its project. We have had contacts in the past, and it is a club I will always consider, but for now, my focus and everything is with Rivers, as I would like to honour my contract till the end of the season.

“I don’t like to abandon a contract and run halfway. Rivers United management have been so good and kind to me, and the trust they place in me is unbelievable. I also have great respect for my boss, ElFINITO.”

Olanrewaju, however, admitted that he would be open to considering an opportunity with Shooting Stars in the future.

“Shooting Stars is a club I will always feel honoured to be linked with or mentioned with. If the opportunity comes again in the future, I’ll be glad to consider it, as I believe the union will be massive,” he added.

The coach also expressed appreciation to fans who have shown interest in his career and linked him with other clubs on social media.

“Thank you, everyone. The tags on Twitter and DMs from some fans are something that will make me work harder,” he concluded.
